The ICC Piece Makers Quilting Group Ministry began in 2014 under the guidance of the Holy Spirit through the intercession of our devotion to the Chaplet of Divine Mercy which we include each week in our time together as a means of bringing together those with an interest in sewing.
Particularly quilting for the purpose of working on sewing projects for fundraising, providing Embroidered white Baptismal bibs, Scapulars and Baby blankets to include in our ICC Welcome Packets/Baptismal Bags for families of the newly Baptized children and adults in the parish. These bags include material about the ICC Parish History and ministries, a Rosary with instructions, a Miraculous/St. Benedict Medal, an instructional video of various topics as well as the blankets and Baptismal items.
We have made numerous quilts for raffles to raise funds for the local Catholic Radio station 97.2 (Queen of Heaven and Earth) and many items for holiday bazaars.
After a lull due to the pandemic, the group has returned to expand our sewing skills to include making several dresses for the new ministry for young girls of the parish called the Daughters of Mary.
The group meets Tuesdays in Murphy Hall (September-April) and welcomes all interested sewers of any skill level.
